Take the Kids Camping. You Know, In the Living Room!

You’re stuck inside, and you’ve got some unhappy campers. Send help! Here it is—you’re going on a camping trip! All it takes is a little ingenuity and a big imagination.

  1. First class accommodations. Do you have a tent? If it can be set up in a room in the house, that’s great. If not, no worries, here’s tips for making one. Next, haul out the sleeping bags. If you don’t have them, pillows and blankets will do just fine. You’re looking for cozy.
  2. Indoor picnic. Spread out a tablecloth on the floor and make food that’s easy for a living room picnic. Use plastic plates or thermoses for authenticity. Talk about where you’d like to picnic when it’s safe.. Top it off with a great recipe for s’mores cookies.
  3. No camping trip is complete without a campfire. Get out the construction paper, crayons, and scissors and turn up the heat with some pretend flames. Here’s an easy way to make your own fire.
  4. Tell campfire stories, or have a sing-a-long. Here are some of our favorite songs that will have you feeling like you’re out in the woods, and under the stars.
