Who would think a rock could be a fuel for kindness and love? Our friend Sheila did, and now she’s spreading love, one rock at a time in a New Hampshire Seacoast community!
Sheila was inspired to spread kindness in Portsmouth, NH after reading a story about creating kindness rocks and one thing led to another.
Gathering the rocks was Sheila’s first step to getting started. She reached out to her community and was fortunate to receive a large donation of river rocks from a generous supporter in Newburyport. She purchased a variety of colorful, acrylic paints and was ready to embellish her river rocks, but she needed some help.
Sheila recruited her grandson Landon to help paint the rocks with inspirational and motivational sayings on them. The two then went out and hid the rocks all around the Portsmouth community.
Sheila and Landon still carry on this tradition of rocking kindness. Each week, they come together to paint rocks and tuck them in spots where they will be an unexpected joyful discovery. Sheila also encourages members of the community to keep the kindness rolling by hiding their found WRP rocks in a new spot, for someone else to find or keep them and replace them with some of their own.
If you’re inspired by Sheila’s story, you can join the Kindness Rocks Project and start creating and hiding kindness rocks in your community. #RockOn
