Katherine Fournier’s lesson plans exceed beyond the classroom. Katherine works at Massabesic High School in Waterboro, ME where she not only teaches, but also coaches field hockey, unified basketball, and lacrosse. In the classroom, Katherine often puts her students’ needs ahead of her own, whether it’s tutoring a student over vacation or simply being a voice for students’ needs both in the classroom and at home. As a coach, Katherine is a resource to her teams year-round, always willing to spend extra time with her athletes to make sure they succeed both in school and on the field. With a degree in Special Education, Katherine is a perfect fit for the unified basketball team, which pairs students with various levels of physical and developmental disabilities alongside able-bodied students to compete on the same team together. In addition to coaching, Katherine is also the President of the Maine Field Hockey Association, where she continues to advocate for athletes across the state of Maine.
Because of her involvement in the classroom and on the field, Katherine was chosen as a winner of Northeast Credit Union’s Teachers That Wow contest. We applaud her commitment to her students!
